Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee is hosting it’s second annual Prevention in the Park event coming up on June 4 from 3 – 6 p.m.
Early June is a great time to remind our community about summer injury prevention. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, emergency department visits increase 15-20% across the country. As we enter June, the weather is nicer, school is letting out and everyone is participating in more outdoor activities – riding bikes, scooters, boating, swimming and having bonfires and cookouts. Often times, there are safety measures we often forget to follow after being cooped up inside for the winter.
Prevention in the Park takes place outside of Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, in connection with local law enforcement, at the green space in front of the North Point Water Tower. Ascension Wisconsin and community partners set up different stations for education and engagement to promote healthy lifestyles, injury prevention and overall well-being as we start to spend more time outside. In addition to engaging with community partners and law enforcement, some treats such as Pete’s Pops, Kona Ice and hot dogs will be available as well.
