A group of over a dozen organizations, loosely named the Lincoln Creek Greenway Workgroup, are excited to announce the 2026 Lincoln Creek Week. The Lincoln Creek Workgroup, and various community partners, will host a week of free, fun and family-friendly activities for all ages, including paddling, biking, hiking and more. Organizations will activate various areas of the city of Milwaukee with the hopes to help residents reimagine and celebrate the beauty of the Lincoln Creek Greenway.

The week will kick off with a community picnic celebration on Saturday, June 20th from 12-3pm at McGovern Park and close on Saturday, June 27th from 12-3 at Lincoln Park. Each event will feature nature- based activities, information from community partners, prizes, giveaways, free food and more. During Lincoln Creek Week, community partners will offer activities such as learning to kayak, educational nature presentations, volunteer service opportunities, a bird walk, and a bike ride.

The week of events is under the auspices of the Lincoln Creek Greenway Work Group, started by Nearby Nature Milwaukee in 2022, to draw attention to the neglect and disparity in green space development along Lincoln Creek.

All events are free and open to the public. Some events require registration. A full list of events and registration links are below and on the  Nearby Nature web page, or at this link: www.bit.ly/CreekWeek26

Participating organizations include Friends of Lincoln Park, Havenwoods State Forest – WI DNR, Lake Michigan Bird Observatory, Milwaukee County Parks, Milwaukee Riverkeeper, Milwaukee Water Commons, Nearby Nature Milwaukee, Red Bike & Green Milwaukee, Residents for Change Neighborhood Assn, Waterway Restoration Partnership, Friends of McGovern Park, Wisconsin Green Muslims
