1. Series Celebrations: Tuesday, Aug. 11
Find a new favorite book series through art projects, science experiments and imaginative play at the Milwaukee Public Library’s Martin Luther King Branch community room, 2901 N. Martin Luther King Drive, on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from noon to 2 p.m. For children ages 6 to 12. More information here.
2. Primary Election: Tuesday, Aug. 11
Vote for primary candidates for governor, Congress and the state Legislature at polling places across Milwaukee on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters can register at their polling place on election day. 3. Foraging Walk with Robin Greenfield: Wednesday, Aug. 12
Learn how to safely and sustainably forage more than 10 common edible and medicinal plants on a walk at the Lotus Pond at Humboldt Park, 3000 S. Howell Ave., on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration is required, with a suggested donation of $10 to $40. Scholarships are available. More information here.
4. Washington Park Wednesdays Carnival: Wednesday, Aug. 12
Head to the Washington Park Bandshell, 4599 W. Lloyd St. on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a free event with food trucks, roving performers Professor Pinkerton & Friends and Taylor Flows, the Hot Swing Trio and headliner Los Mitoteros. American sign language interpretation is provided, and free meals are available for young people and families. More information here.
5. Washington Heights Night Market: Thursday, Aug. 13
Mount Olive Lutheran Church and School, 5327 W. Washington Blvd., is hosting a night market with live music, dozens of vendors, food trucks and a free kids zone on Thursday, Aug. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. on Washington Boulevard between North 53rd and 54th streets. More information here.
