1. Free Friday Movie: Major League: Friday, Aug. 28

2. Wellness Wonderland: Saturday, Aug. 29

Head to Ascension Family Health Center, 2400 W. Villard Ave., on Saturday, Aug. 29 from noon to 4 p.m., for carnival activities, mental health and wellness resources and a backpack and school-supply giveaway. More information here.

3. MKE REC Food Truck 40: Saturday, Aug. 29

Join Milwaukee Recreation for a community bike ride at the Urban Ecology Center – Washington Park Branch, 1859 N. 40th St. on Saturday, Aug. 29, with check-in at 8:30 a.m. and a 9 a.m. roll-out. The family-friendly Soul Roll is a 10-mile ride through the near West Side, with an option to continue for the full 40-mile Food Truck Forty. Registration required. More information here.

4. ABAA Community Resource Fair: Saturday, Aug. 29

The third annual “A Beacon Against Abuse” fair, hosted by Beacon of Hope, will offer a day of resources, healing and community connection at Kosciuszko Park at the corner of South 9th Place and West Lincoln Avenue on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information here.

5. Backyard Boogie Celebration: Sunday, August 30

Pro PainterUSA is hosting a community celebration with free food, music with DJ L-Boogie, farm animals and giveaways of computers, shoes and school supplies at Melvina Park, 2900 W. Hopkins St., on Sunday, Aug. 30 from noon to 5:30 p.m. More information here.
