The Charles Allis Art Museum has named Dena Kopolovich as its new Executive Director, marking a new chapter for the historic Milwaukee museum during a milestone year of growth and independence.
Kopolovich is an arts and cultural producer, filmmaker and creative leader whose experience spans performance, media production, hospitality and independent creative entrepreneurship. For more than a decade, she has contributed to arts programs and organizations across the country and has also worked in creative and commercial media production and higher education.
“I look forward to honoring the legacy of the museum while nurturing a vibrant future for contemporary artists, audiences, and the creative community in Milwaukee,” Kopolovich said.
Her appointment comes during a transformative year for The Allis. In April, the museum acquired its historic Prospect Avenue home from Milwaukee County and moved forward with changing its organizational name from CAVT Museums, Inc. to the Charles Allis Art Museum, further establishing its identity as an independent Milwaukee cultural institution.
The museum has also expanded its community reach in 2026, welcoming 855 museum visitors, 340 program and workshop participants, and 2,350 attendees through free and community programs. Membership has grown to 215 members, in the Board of directors has grown from 7 to 13.
As Executive Director, Kopolovich will work alongside the museum’s Board and staff on priorities including long-term financial sustainability, preservation of the historic home and collection, membership growth, fundraising and donor engagement, and community-centered programming.
Milwaukee residents are invited to meet Dena during Doors Open Milwaukee on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Charles Allis Art Museum, 1801 N. Prospect Ave. Visitors can meet Dena, explore the historic mansion and collection, experience the museum’s exhibitions and learn more about what’s ahead for The Allis.
