For thousands of Wisconsin residents, access to basic dental care remains a challenge. Thanks to a $10,000 donation, the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation is helping remove some of those barriers by providing free dental treatment and essential oral hygiene supplies to individuals and families in need.

The funding will directly support two important community initiatives:

  • Free Dental Care: $5,000 will help cover dental supplies and treatment for 20 patients through Wisconsin Mission of Mercy, a program that provides free dental care to underserved residents who might otherwise go without treatment.
  • Oral Health Essentials: An additional $5,000 will provide toothbrushes and toothpaste to more than 5,700 low-income Wisconsin residents, helping families maintain healthy smiles at home.

Since 2009, Wisconsin Mission of Mercy has helped individuals facing financial and other barriers to dental care through free, two-day dental clinics. These events bring together volunteer dental professionals and community partners to deliver essential services to those who need them most.

The $10,000 contribution was made possible through Liberty Mutual Insurance’s 2026 Make More Happen™ Award program, which recognized West Allis-based Professional Insurance Programs (PIP) for its longstanding support of the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation. An initial $5,000 award doubled to $10,000 after community members rallied behind the initiative, generating more than 750 combined votes and comments.

The partnership extends well beyond this donation. PIP employees have volunteered at all 11 Wisconsin Mission of Mercy events, helping support the Foundation’s efforts to make quality dental care accessible to more Wisconsin residents.

“We know that a healthy smile can change the course of someone’s life,” said Sam Steinmetz, president of Professional Insurance Programs. “By combining financial support with volunteer time, our team helps remove barriers so Wisconsin families can get the care they need.”

The Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation is dedicated to improving oral health and overall well-being throughout Wisconsin, ensuring that financial circumstances do not prevent individuals and families from receiving the dental care they deserve.

Through community partnerships, volunteer efforts and charitable support, the Foundation continues working to make a meaningful difference in the health and lives of Wisconsin residents.
