It’s goes without saying that 2020 did not go as planned. It was a turbulent year for everyone, but amid the hardships and the challenges, something began to happen. People found ways to connect, to reach out and to support one another. These relationships became a beacon of hope during a time when so many were feeling scared and alone.

One of these people was LaDonna Telford, who started a Facebook group called Jump Rope Squad – Jump for Joy. It began as a space for friends but amassed a following as people from around the world joined.

While I’ve reported and written a lot of articles this year, the story of Jump Rope Squad is one of my favorites. It is a story about friendship and positivity and encouragement, and perhaps most important, it reminds us that it is easier to overcome moments of difficulty when we come together.
