Alverno College and the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) have established a formal partnership that streamlines the transfer process for female students who want to become social workers, allowing them to complete their associate degree in human services at MATC and transfer to Alverno to complete their Bachelor of Social Work.

While the arts provide entertainment and aesthetic value, they also have historical, expressive, therapeutic, psychological and spiritual value.

Alverno College has been awarded a $974,698 grant from the National Science Foundation to fund and support the college’s New Futures in Science and Mathematics Program, which is designed to help high-achieving, low-income women graduate with a degree in a STEM discipline.

Beginning in June 2018, Alverno College will serve as the primary teacher certification provider for Teach For America–Milwaukee, expanding the existing partnership between the two organizations and strengthening the commitment of both to training and developing Milwaukee educators.

Treasurer of the United States Jovita Carranza will give the commencement address at Alverno College’s 157th graduation on May 19. Carranza was made an honorary alumna of the college in 2011, and served on Alverno’s Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2017.

Alverno College is receiving the inaugural Latino Spirit Award from Marcus Theatres in recognition of the college becoming the first Hispanic-Serving Institution in Wisconsin and for a history of supporting first-generation students.
