I’m proud that I’ve been able to provide an authentic and nuanced story about many challenging issues in Milwaukee,” says Edgar Mendez, who’s been with NNS for 10 years. (NNS file photo)

Name: Edgar Mendez

What I do at NNS: I report on public health and safety and public policy.

How long I’ve worked here: 10 years

Why I love NNS: I love working at NNS because our mission to provide coverage of undercovered communities aligns with my values and my love for the community.

What are you most proud of? I’m proud that I’ve been able to provide an authentic and nuanced story about many challenging issues in Milwaukee, including the Sherman Park unrest and also stories related to the current pandemic.

For example: One article I wrote examined whether things had changed in Sherman Park three years after the unrest and another explored whether “stay at home” arrests revealed racial disparities in enforcement.

How to help
