It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know.

1. Bronzeville Collective third anniversary celebration: Friday, Oct. 1 through Monday, Oct. 4

The Bronzeville Collective, 339 W. North Ave., is celebrating its third anniversary. The celebration will begin with a happy hour sale on Friday, Oct. 1, continue with collaboration marketplaces on Saturday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 3 and conclude with an online sale on Monday, Oct. 4. In case you missed it: ‘A big blank canvas’: Milwaukee’s creatives of color talk about the city’s challenges and their triumphs

2. Habitat for Humanity open house and information session: Saturday, Oct. 2

Habitat for Humanity is hosting an open house at 3459 N. 3rd St. from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2. Attendees will tour a newly built home and learn how they can become first-time homeowners through Habitat for Humanity. The open house is free and tickets can be found here. Additional information on becoming a homeowner can be found here.

3. Taste of Lindsay Heights grand opening: Saturday, Oct. 2

The grand opening of a Taste of Lindsay Heights, 1617 W. North Ave., is taking place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2. The carryout cafe is a part of Walnut Way’s Community Wealth Building Campaign. The goal is to increase access to healthy food and economic opportunities for residents of Lindsay Heights.

4. Franciscan Peacemakers anniversary celebration and fundraiser: Saturday, Oct. 2

Franciscan Peacemakers is celebrating its 26th anniversary and annual fundraiser. The event will take place at its retail store, 3333 W. Lisbon Ave., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2. Attendees will be able to shop at the store, tour the soap shop and hospitality center, enjoy refreshments and more. 5. DreamBikes basement sale and bike swap: Sunday, Oct. 3

DreamBikes Milwaukee, 2021A N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, is hosting a basement sale and bike swap from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3. The sale will take place in the parking lot next to DreamBikes. The store will be selling as-is bikes, wheels, parts and accessories.   

Bonus: Harambee community barbeque: Friday, Oct. 1

St. Marcus School, Safe & Sound, Cross Words North and more are hosting a community barbeque in Harambee. The event will take place on the northeast corner of North Hubbard Street and East North Avenue from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1. The barbeque is to raise awareness of reckless driving.

Bonus: Milwaukee Diaper Mission’s first birthday: Sunday, Oct. 3

Milwaukee Diaper Mission is celebrating its first birthday with live music, crafts, snacks, raffles and more. The celebration will take place at South Shore Park, 2900 S. Shore Drive, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3. The event is free but monetary donations will be accepted.
