Milwaukee is mourning the death of Dr. Lester Carter, longtime pharmacist and a beloved community anchor.

Carter died Monday. He was 90.

Here are some precious memories from our archives to honor a man who inspired many in our neighborhoods.

We were honored by Dr.Carter’s presence. He changed, saved and blessed countless lives within our community. He took our physical, mental and spiritual well being to heart and treated each with dignity. I am so grateful that he received his flowers while he dwelt among us, as evident in your featured articles. Rest well soldier knowing that you made everyone you encountered feel that their lives mattered.
