2. Silver City Fest: Saturday, Sept. 12

Celebrate VIA Community Development Corp.’s 30th anniversary at the 15th Silver City Fest, 3501 W. Pierce St. The festival takes place on Saturday, Sept. 12 from noon to 5 p.m. The free family-friendly block party includes live music, food and vendors. More information here.

3. 8th Annual Rock Da Block: Saturday, Sept. 12

 Get free groceries, community resources and a bookbag at the Sherman Park Community Association’s “Rock Da Block” cookout and concert at North 35th and West Center streets on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. More information here.

4. Barrio 2: A Day of Independence: Sunday, Sept. 13

Mark Mexican Independence Day at Barrio 2, a celebration with a flea market, live music and a color guard flag presentation at Zócalo, 636 S. 6th St., on Sunday, Sept. 13 from noon to 5 p.m. More information here.

5. Near West Side Block Party, presented by The New State: Sunday, Sept. 13 

Kick off Near West Side Week at a free block party at the New State Pocket Park, 2612 W. State St., on Sunday, Sept. 13 from noon to 4 p.m. More information here.
