The first walls were raised today on an affordable homeownership initiative in the Harambee neighborhood. Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity plans to build more than 80 brand new, affordable homes in the area over the next four years.

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is now accepting applications for first-time homebuyers interested in building their own brand new home. Habitat will begin construction of these new, affordable homes in Milwaukee’s Harambee and Midtown neighborhoods beginning in March.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore celebrates 10 years in Milwaukee
Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Habitat’s resale stores and donation centers, are celebrating 10 years in Milwaukee this month. Since 2006, Milwaukee’s ReStores have funded the construction of 25 Milwaukee Habitat homes by reselling donated home goods to the public. Donations of furniture, appliances, and cabinetry by local individuals and businesses have made it possible for 25 Milwaukee families to achieve their dream of owning their own homes.
