A small group of homeowners on North 9th Street have been meeting monthly at St. Matthew Church to discuss how they can improve the quality of life in their neighborhood. Since September, they’ve learned that change is slow and difficult to effect, but they aren’t giving up.

Tanyialisa McDowell is the first homeowner in Borchert Field to be granted a loan under the Targeted Investment Neighborhood (TIN) program. The city awarded TIN status to the neighborhood one year ago.
Twelve days of Christmas gifts cheer Borchert Field neighbors
Although there didn’t appear to be any lords leaping or drummers drumming, two Borchert Field men made Christmas merrier for neighborhood children. For 12 days before Christmas they collected, wrapped and distributed warm clothing and toys from a front porch at 9th and Ring streets.
